Walkthrough Edit

[needs revision]

  • In hindsight, it may be possible to ignore the first 3 delivery quests, giving you 90 minutes to build a Motor... the only other material required is Microchips, which can be obtained from the Eco faction at the Employee level (required for basic construction anyways)... Simply focus on producing the Primary Quest's objectives instead and fail 3 waves. Researchers can easily be obtained in under 60 minutes, leaving 30 plus for Seismic Pressure Regulator research. It you manage to produce a Motor, which is easy enough, then you can buy yourself another 90 minutes.

Tips Edit

  • Plan ahead for the upcoming Emergency Assistance quests. Do not wait for them to become active before trying to meet those objectives or you likely will not have the time.
  • You are given command of two vessels (Submarine and Warship). Maintain the Submarine for use in completing various quests (a speed increase can be purchased from NPCs); especially for the "find people" quests, since you only have 5 minutes to complete these.
  • Try to establish Functional Food production immediately, since selling them to Prof Devi will generate a large amount of income. Otherwise, the task becomes infinitely more difficult, if not impossible to complete. Do not feed them to your Lab Assistants until you require Researchers, since it is far more profitable to sell them. Other sources of income, when sold through the warehouse trade tab, include Kerosene, Functional Drinks, Communicators and Health Food. Functional Food and Communicators can be sold directly to NPCs (Devi and Yana) for a quick boost to your income.
  • Remember, many things can be purchased either through the trade tab in your own warehouse or directly from NPCs; especially Carbon for quest #4. Getting Carbon production running that early is very costly, and difficult; although not impossible. Purchasing some Carbon from Prof Devi to meet the mission requirements or increase development is recommended.
  • You will only need around 45-55 t of Kerosine in this game: Plan ahead and buy that stuff passively in your own warehouse; preferably in small quantities at a dumping price. That way you can skip this entire production chain. Always buy Tools and Carbon, too, but you better build some of those chains, as well.
  • Practically speaking, the most efficient method is to build an Eco settlement up to Employees for the early quests (purchase all available Tools and Building Modules from NPCs), later developing it for Lumber, Microchip and Communicator production. In the meantime, build a Tech settlement for the early Tech quests. Both Tycoon items (35t Concrete and 30t Steel) can be purchased from Rufus Thorne, and the latter may not even be required.
  • Settle the island to the East of your starting location, as it contains most of the resources you will need. After developing a population of Employees, purchase Vegetable fertility from Yana Rodriguez (cheapest), so that all development can be done on two islands (Ecos will help with this, since they are more efficient at building basic construction, produce Microchips and Communicators, don't compete for Oil, and minimize environmental impact). Purchase Sugar fertility for use on the island to the North, which also contains Coffee.
  • Underwater development should be done on the reef to the North, building a Port Authority at the North end of your main island, thus resulting in an efficient production chain which can be serviced using the original Commando ship (reserving the Submarine for quests and manual deliveries; no additional ships are necessary). Only 5t of Neuroimplants are required and can be collected manually from a reef to the South in order to complete the quest, while the rest may be sold to an NPC from the depot trade tab.
  • Alternatively, the island to the South contains Sugar, in which case only Vegetable fertility needs to be purchased, since Coffee can also be found on the main island. Another island to the South East contains Vegetables, and although it may be tempting to ignore Legumes, they provide a necessary tax benefit in the absence of lifestyle products. A reef to the South East can be developed to produce Functional Food. However, these options are all inefficient for various reasons. In order to employ this strategy, a Port Authority should be built on the South Eastern beach of the main island instead of the North (see Video Guide below for a similar approach).
  • For maximum efficiency, it is possible to fail quests #12 (25t Functional Drinks, 5t Neuroimplants) and #15 (30t Steel) using this method, and still complete the mission if you failed no other quests. However, the mission can be completed before quest #10 (25t Communicators) or possibly earlier. Knowing this and being confident in that ability, it's possible to fail earlier quests, thus preserving resources. This means that only 35t Concrete need be bought using the above methods, while Tycoon construction may be skipped entirely. Essentially, the mission becomes a walk in the park after delivering 25t Carbon for quest #4 as you can easily produce any of the required materials.
  • If you fail a quest and get hit by the Tsunami, it will only do minor damage to the island immediately to the South and East of the power plant. Your main island will be almost completely unaffected (except the North Western shore). Meaning, if you avoid building in those areas and avoid the beaches facing the plant, you can fail the mission and suffer no lasting damage to your production or population. (see Video Guide below for visual reference of where the damage will hit).
