The Ornamental Buildings mostly serve for decorative purposes and the player can use them to beautify cities. Many of these buildings are available for any player, although others must be obtained through DLC. In addition most become available only after reaching the required number of inhabittants of a certain type. Despite their decorative function most of ornamental buildings have maintenance costs. In the normal game only Tycoon and Eco buildings are available, but in the Deep Ocean expansion there are also decorative buildings for the Tech faction. There are also special Harbor ornamental buildings, which have to be bought through DLC.
