Science Forum

Monuments are immense and iconic buildings representing the culmination of each faction's technology. Each is built in massive stages, with the first unlocked after 600 Tycoons and 1,200 Eco Executives, or 1,250 Tech Geniuses. Monuments perform civil functions that satisfy the population's Needs; upon completion they can replace all other communal Needs buildings.

The Monument Foundation and first through third stages of construction provide the basic Need for Community only, within a significantly expanded radius compared to that of a standard City Center. They do not confer any other benefits.

A Completed Monument attends to the Needs for Activity, Information and Participation of all Inhabitants within its Influence Radius, not limited to its own faction, or that of the entire Island in the case of the Science Forum. It also provides access to the same basic information panels available at the City Center, including overviews of the Population, Ecology and Energy.

Note:

  • Monuments do not satisfy Needs based on Goods, such as Food, Drinks and Lifestyle products. These must still be produced and delivered in the usual amounts.
  • Monuments do not broadcast channel bonuses (e.g. extra Tax or Living Spaces) provided by the Ministry of Truth, Education Network and Information Center. These buildings must still be placed if the bonuses are desired.
  • Monuments do not replace any Emergency Services or prevent Disasters for occurring.

For all intents and purposes, Monuments function as a replacement for City Centers and all other civic Needs buildings, with the exception of Information channels and Emergency Services.

Construction and Stats Edit

In contrast to typical buildings, Monuments are built over time in three stages. Only their Foundations are bought directly from the build menu. They are unlocked at 600 Executives in the case of Tycoons, 1,200 Executives in the case of Ecos and 1,250 Geniuses in the case of Techs. To complete the third stage of the construction project 1,400 Executives or 1,250 Geniuses are needed.

Resources are gradually consumed from a local Warehouse while the Monument is being constructed. An active Road connection with any Trade building (such as a Warehouse) is required for the Goods to be transported to the build site. During the process, each phase of construction must be confirmed before work can continue.

Note: On an Island with another Monument, Maintenance Costs are -850 Credits, but on an Island without another Monument they are equal to -1000.

Trivia Edit

  • A finished monument is also the only building in the game capable of surviving a Nuclear Missile Strike. With its 8000 Hit Points compared to the Missile's 7500 damage points, if the fire is exstinguished in time, either by a fire station or the Fire Units of a repair dock, the monument will survive the missile.
  • Technically there is no need for the population to be present to be able to build and finish any monument, once they are unlocked. There is also no need for providing Tier 4 supplies to reach required number of Executive Mansions. It is possible to unlock the monuments, erase the population, and only then start and finish the build. Finished Eco Monument shares the unlock conditions with River Sewage Treatment Plant, while finished Tycoon Monument shares the unlock condition with Missile Launch Pad. If you can build any of these, you can also build a respective Monument.
  • Monuments count as public buildings for the purpose of Warehouse and Ark item bonuses.
