The Laboratory is a special Tech building which has two functions: it satisfies the need for Activity for Techs and you are able to create Modules in it.

Need for ActivityEdit

The Laboratory satisfies the need for Activity for Techs. The laboratory is required to ascend Lab Assistants into Researchers. You unlock the Laboratory building rights at 150 Lab Assistants.

In the Laboratory, you are able to create Modules. Modules are items that can be used for their specified purposes, such as putting out a fire on an oil rig or increasing the raw materials available on an island, or they can also be used in the Academy as required components for research projects.

Prototype DevelopmentEdit

Upon Researching a Laboratory Module you will have a probability of developing a Prototype, which is indicated by an Experiment value in the Laboratory menu. Prototypes are needed for researching Advanced Technologies at an Academy but they may also be sold for Licenses.

Scientific CuriosityEdit

The Laboratory's productivity (or the speed of research) is indicated by the Scientific Curiosity value indicated in the Laboratory menu. Scientific Curiosity is affected by the number of Tech inhabitants residing in the influence area of the Laboratory. The Scientific Curiosity value can be between 100 and 500 depending on the number of tech inhabitants in the laboratory's influence area. To get the maximum Scientific Curiosity (productivity) value of 500, 500 Tech inhabitants are required.

Development RiskEdit

Researching Laboratory modules will also make the Laboratory susceptible to an Accident, which is indicated by the Development Risk value in the Laboratory menu. The Development risk value depends on the module being researched. A Research Accident may occur at any moment during the research of an item with Development risk. Development Risk (or the Probability of an Accident) may be reduced or removed by using appropriate Ark and Warehouse Items.
