Raw Materials and Mineral ResourcesEdit

Raw Materials are resources which are "extracted" from the island or underwater plateau. Each island or plateau has different available raw materials and a limited supply of them (a raw material is different from a Fertility). Additional supplies of an existing resource type can be added to an island by using various items created at the Laboratory. These one-time-use items - used via a warehouse - increase the available raw materials of a specific type by a set amount. The Raw Materials are divided by extraction method: There are Mineral resources (The beam pump symbol) and Mine sites (The mine cart symbol)

Some underwater plateaus have an Black smoker. Once these are inactive, an extra Mineral Resource can be extracted from the plateau. The smoker can become inactive on it's own (after some time), and then you will be able to mine a random mineral recourse. Alternatively, you can research items to manually stop the black smoker: The "refined chemicals" item created in the Laboratory will provide a random mineral resource, while the items created in in the Academy (under Fertilities and Resources) will stop the smoker and provide a specific natural resource. The building to extract these resources underwater is the metal converter. The amount of resources underwater is unlimited.
