Computer Players are the Non-Player Characters of the game.

They can be divided into two main categories: non-expanding NPCs reside on their Ark or base, and expanding NPCs who are able to settle islands and build cities and industry just as the player does.

The player will compete with expanding NPCs over territory: some NPCs will be tame and peaceful, like Tilda Jorgensen (who will ask for your permission to expand), while others will aggressively try to lock the map, like Thor Strindberg. Even underwater plateaus will be part of this race, as dr. Tori Bartok will expand quickly undersea, too. It's important to note that expanding NPCs will usually settle less than 5 islands, whatever difficulty they have.

The Player can use a multitude of diplomatic options on NPCs, see Diplomacy. The most important options are declaring war, lobbying, demanding a quest and making peace.

Some computer players can build special ships or structures like the oil tanker (Vadim Sokow), the Shark (Keto) or Sokow's special driller (Vadim Sokow). These unique structures usually can be obtained by defeating the owner in a game.

Some NPCs also change their attitude in the lobby if you go to war with them in a previous continuous game, such as Thor Strindberg and Hector: if the player previously has defeated them, they will for a long period of time comment on it when you add them to a continuous game.

"So, you want to resume hostilities do you? It would be a pleasure."
—Thor Strindberg to the player after a heavy defeat.

Some players even have their own soundtrack in the game. See also: Soundtrack

Warning: If you're fighting against computer players which have Nuclear Powerplants, do NOT destroy the plant, as it turns into a Nuclear Ruin, it will make it impossible to defeat that player!

Adding Computer Players in Continuous Games[]

Lobby

The Game Lobby

Adding Computer Players is done by clicking on the tab below a party slot, and then selecting the desired NPC. A small overview will be visible to make selecting easier.

Difficulty levels can be changed by the bar at the bottom of their portrait. Three difficulties are available: Easy, Medium and Hard. The level of difficulty does not only decide how large the NPC's navy will be, but also how they behave ingame, for instance the rate of colonizing new islands and frequency of ultimatums. Some NPCs, like Thor Strindberg, will become more aggressive depending on their difficulty level, both against human and non-human parties (for instance, dr. Tori Bartok).

The overview consists of available Diplomatic options, whether the NPC expands or not and a small description of the character.
