Career Progression allows the player to gain in influence with the three main factions. Early rewards are easy to gain but the number of points needed to advance to the next rank grows progressively higher so attaining some of the more higher valued rewards, such as the leader portraits and the faction Ark models, is a matter of considerable patience. Career points are earned in various ways like voting in the Senate and the World Council or completing game content.
In the Deep Ocean expansion, there are three more ranks to earn than in the normal game.
In total you need to gain 12650 per faction (3x12650 = 37950) career points. Assuming you complete both campaigns and all single missions you gain 700 points for Tycoons, 350 for Ecos and 500 for techs. 1300 Points are your choice to spend. To gain more points you will have to complete the daily quest, vote in elections or complete global events - if they're available. By only doing daily quests you gain 350 points a week for a faction of your choice.
