To use these tables on other pages, please read Academy Research Projects/transclusion.The Academy offers lots of things for you to research. Listed below is an almost comprehensive collection of the items that you can get from the Academy and what they benefit.
As stated on the main research page, starting a new continuous map game set to some very easy settings makes doing the research easier than in a normal game.
It should be noted that you require a minimum of:
- 1 Researcher to start a 0 / 1 Star Project in the Academy;
- 600 Researchers to start a 2 Star Project in the Academy;
- 750 Researchers to start a 3 Star Project in in the Academy;
- 1 Genius to start some of the Deep Ocean Projects.
To help all the people that ask the same question please read on.
Note the numbers at the side of each subject (x/x). To get these numbers to be the same you need to do basic research (see picture below). However, some technologies will be missing if you have done all research projects. Do these things to complete your list:
- Complete all the Global Events, with exception of the Neo Skulls Crisis and The Secret of the Ebashi Trench (they are the only Global Events that won't reward you with technologies);
- Reach level 8 of all factions in your Career Progression (13 if you have the Deep Ocean Expansion);
- Buy the "Former package", the "Central Statistics package" and the "Silent Running package" DLCs;
- Buy a Redeem Code for the Special Edition of Anno 2070.
To decrease the time taken to complete projects, increase the number of tech residents in the Academy or Labs influence area. They both start at 100% research speed which can be increased to 500% (visible in the bottom right of the research menu). This means that research time goes from 1:30 hours @ 100% to 24 mins @ 500% (the lab has shorter times from 30 mins to 6 mins or something like that).
To create 3* formulas most require you to research a 2* formula which also may require a 1* formula (it is best to do all basic research before starting to create formulas). You will also need items that can be created in the lab and Prototypes, which you can buy from Trenchcoat or find them with help of Hiro Ebashi's technology scanner, you also get them sometimes as by-product while producing modules in the laboratory or find them through finding sunken research facilities while exploring the underwater area with your submarine (it is advised to do so before using Hiro Ebashi's technology scanner). You may also need some goods like Carbon and / or Microchips.
When you have created the Formula you want, place it in your Ark and click on the tab at the bottom "UPGRADES". Then click on the relevant star socket to place it there (if you have more than one formula click on the one you want). As long as ark storage is set to on (see game setting before starting a new game usually set to on by default) and you are connected to the Ubisoft server, these formulas with affect sector wide in every continuous game you play (even online multiplayer games). They do not carry over in mission type games, as ark storage is turned off.
The maintenance, influence area and ecobalance bonuses are additive, as opposed to multiplicative. In other words, if you get the three upgrades for the Weather monitoring station (40%, 30% and 20% reduction in influence radius) the radius that is left becomes 10% of the original (and not 33,6%, if the effect were multiplicative) and in practice this makes the influence circle a 4x4 square centered on the station.
If you see this: symbol on an item, you need the Deep Ocean expansion for it. Note that categories with (x/x projects) have different numbers of projects for normal Anno 2070 and the Deep Ocean expansion.
Basic Research (6 projects)Edit
Basic Research allows you to discover previously unknown Formulas in the area of Academy research. Once a new Formula has been discovered, you can make the appropiate item in the Academy.
Since lucrative patents arise during Basic Research, Licenses are generated for the duration of Basic Research.
